Unrealistic Wedding Expectations

July 16th, 2012

Don't let unrealistic expectations get to you

A wedding is an amazing time in a person’s life.  For many women, it may even be an event that has been planned and thought through since their teenage years.  With this in mind, expectations have already been set to an extremely high degree at an early age.  The higher the expectations, the higher the possibility of reality not meeting these expectations.  Some common unrealistic wedding expectations include:

I must look after every detail in the wedding

My friends and family will play nicely with each other because this is my day

I must cry happy tears at some point during my wedding

I want to experience everything I have planned out for my guests

I have to find the perfect <insert any wedding item>

In all honesty, in ten years, none of this will matter.

It won’t matter your guests didn’t notice the extra effort you put into finding the perfect seat cover, or that your great uncle didn’t enjoy sitting next to your cousins.   But it will matter that the two of you get married, and remember that when it happened, you were surrounded by all your friends and family. Just make sure you are able to capture all the moments, and look forward to the amazing journey awaiting you after the wedding.
